CRREM Global EUI Methodology Review

Evaluating whether changes to the EUI Methodology would meaningfully improve decision-usefulness

07/01/2026 – 16/02/2026 Open

With your input, the objective of the Global EUI Methodology review is to evaluate if changes to the EUI Methodology would meaningfully improve decision-usefulness, Pathway accuracy, or energy-efficiency outcomes, sufficient to justify methodological revision. All CRREM users and stakeholders are invited to participate in this Market Sounding. To support well-informed and constructive participation, we recommend the following steps:

01
Review the CRREM EUI Pathway Methodology Explainer

Start by familiarizing yourself with the CRREM EUI Pathway Methodology. This document provides the necessary foundation to understand the scope, assumptions, and structure of the Pathways.

02
Review Collected Feedback on CRREM’s Global EUI Methodology

If helpful, review the Collected Feedback to see which points have already been raised with CRREM ahead of the Market Sounding. This can provide context and help spark new considerations.

03
January 19 Review & Input
Follow-on small group sessions.
Smaller group sessions explore specific questions in depth, supporting participants in providing complete and well-informed feedback before submitting questionnaire responses. Insights also help the Technical Council identify knowledge gaps and common themes.
04
February 16 Review & Input
Market Sounding period closes.
The CRREM team uses the following two weeks to process input and prepare a summary of key findings for the Technical Council meeting and vote.
05
March 5 Review & Input
Technical Council evaluation and vote.
The Technical Council evaluates public consultation feedback and decides whether a revision to the CRREM EUI Methodology is warranted, based on materiality, global feasibility, and overall relevance.

Key questions addressed include:
• Can the feedback raised be adequately addressed through an alternative methodological approach?
• Does the Technical Council approve moving forward with prototyping the integration of feedback into a revised CRREM EUI Methodology?
06
March 9 Design & Refine
Project initiation step begins.
If a revision is approved, the project progresses into the Design & Refine phase. The CRREM team converts findings into a concrete work program that defines objectives, priorities, scope, milestones, decision points, and an indicative timeline.
